As part of the Kennedy Centers African Odyssey I, ArtsEdge, the Kennedy Centers national arts and education information network, designed and hosted an African Odyssey Interactive AOI site on the World Wide Web. The site served as the foundation for an evolving learning community that supported the exchange of ideas, information, and resources between artists, teachers, and students in both the U.S. and Africa.The AOI site debuted in January 1997 with a preliminary focus on the historic, geographical, and cultural contexts of artists and exhibitions comprising the Kennedy Centers African Odyssey festival program throughout April 1997,
