This course will introduce you to the art and architecture of the ancient Mediterranean rld. We shall concentrate on the major art works and monuments of the three civiations that arose here: the ancient Near East primarily Mesopotamia, Egypt and Classical Greece. By studying the sculpture, pottery, seals, architectural remains and wall inting of these cultures, we shall gain a better understanding of those civilizations, the olitical and religious ideologies that shaped them, and the evolution of their art styles.
